Marine fish Zeus faber found in the Mediterranean and Atlantic. It grows up to 60 cm/2 ft, and has nine or ten long spines at the front of the dorsal fin, and four at the front of the anal fin. It is considered to be an excellent food fish and is also known as John Dory.

The dory is olive brown or grey, with a conspicuous black spot ringed with yellow on each side. A stalking predator, it shoots out its mobile jaws to catch fish.
